Steve Kutno draws on his broad professional and academic experiences to address the needs of public education, from the individual student up to systemic reforms. Steve taught high school English, journalism, and college writing before completing his doctoral research examining the links between state policies and classroom practices. Steve's move to publishing came in the mid-nineties when he worked on developing new assessments with an emphasis on making meaningful connections to teaching and learning. Steve's responsibilities expanded to include test form development, norm research, and state contract management. From there Steve moved to other publishers, where he helped to shape, build, and expand businesses related to K-12 classroom education. In each of these roles, he served as a critical link between educators and the development of sound instructional materials and services. He has also consulted with a number of companies as they looked to expand their opportunities in the education marketplace. Steve's contributions are evident throughout the industry, from traditional print products to dot-coms. Moreover, he has demonstrated his ability to work with a wide range of people from top district leaders to classroom teachers, from industry leaders to editorial staff in addressing the needs of students everywhere. Today, Steve is a director of Solutions for Pearson, in which  he works directly with client districts to ensure that they implement aligned instructional systems, maximizing the return on their educational investments.
